When any Sleeping Dogs Lie music is purchased, streamed or downloaded, 100% of the money is donated to charity. Every time Sleeping Dogs Lie music in sales hit $100, all of the money is donated to charity. Below are the charities that have been donated to so far:
"Sleeping Dogs Lie" is the musical artist name that I started writing and recording songs under back in 1995 on a Tascam 4-track recorder in my home studio. I have self-released eight CDs since 1997. I have also played in a few bands and I have collaborated on recordings with a variety of musicians and songwriters in that time. As an independent ASCAP songwriter, I have experienced a lot of joy by writing, recording and performing.
In 2006, my mother-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. She fought an amazing fight over the next four years where she was almost never off of chemo. It had dawned upon me that I was just not giving back enough. So, at that time, I decided that I would donate 100% of the proceeds from Sleeping Dogs Lie CDs, downloads and streaming sales to charity. Every time I hit the $100 mark in sales, I find a new and worthy charity to donate to. Below are the charities that I have been able to give to over the years.
$100 - Albuquerque / Habitat for Humanity - oct 2021Since the Covid pandemic, Albuquerque's most vulnerable population has been taking the brunt of the impacts of this disease. Habitat for Humanity has an excellent record of helping local communities with low overhead costs. Certainly a worthy donation in these times.

$100 - Ivor Thomas (friend) / Lost home in Paradise Fire - NOV 2018Ivor Thomas is a friend and old Santaluces High School alum that was lucky to survive the raging fire in Paradise, California in 2018. He left in the middle of the night with his pups with no notice. His scorched truck made its way through the gauntlet of flames and he and his pups were unharmed. He did come to find out a few days later that his entire house was gone. He is now in recovery mode and attempting to rebuild his life from scratch. You can find his GoFundMe page as "Help for the Thomas Family". Hang in there, Ivor... Something from this tragedy will blossom into something good. LINK

$100 - Angel Flights South Central - FEB 2015Angel Flight South Central encourages America’s General Aviation pilots to volunteer their skills to provide free transportation for people in need of critical medical treatment not available to them locally. Every year Angel Flight pilots fly thousands of “missions” making it possible for people to access lifesaving medical care which would otherwise be unavailable to them. Sleeping Dogs Lie's donation is dedicated to recently retired Angel Flight's pilot Dan Telfair who flew 553 missions between 2000-2013. Dan, and his wife, Zia, were also the foster parents of our beloved pup! Thank you Dan & Zia for your outstanding community service and volunteer work! LINK

$100- Russell Carpenter Benefit - JUN 2012My old drummer and long time friend Russell Carpenter was diagnosed with stage 4 lung and brain cancer and soon after passed away on July 22, 2012 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He played in a lot of great bands over the years. Russell's good friend Fonda Cash put on a benefit show for him and raised over $6,000 for him before his passing. He had no insurance and he really needed the financial help. The benefit was a great success and it was great to see the South Florida music community come together for Russell. LINK

$100 - LifeQuest Transitions - JUL 2011I imagine that this is going to become a very big problem for the U.S. over the next few years as soldiers are returning from various war locations after serving multiple tours of duty. We have an obligation as Americans to help our soldiers whether we agree with the wars or not. LifeQuest uses a variety of proven physical and mental challenges (usually outdoor activities) to try to reassimilate returning soldiers and to get them successfully integrated back into society and help them overcome their challenges such as PTSD and other disorders which are stealing the lives and the dreams of the real American heroes. $100 - Maria Lawson (friend) - Brett Cason Trust No. 27-6138689 - APR 2010Brett Cason is the son of my long-time friend Maria (Lawson) Cason who passed away from cervical cancer at the age of 35. It was a great shock and very sad day for me to find out that my friend had passed away on August 5, 2009. In Maria's words: "There is nothing like a mother's love... And I worship Brett. I think he is amazing and beautiful. I lay next to him every night and my heart sings. His happiness is mine. His sorrows are mine too. I have so many plans for him. So many things I want to teach him. Will he remember me? What kind of man will he be? How will he endure the hardships of life without the unconditional love of a mother?" Maria was a beautiful, intelligent and well-humored person that I'm sure will live on forever with Brett and anyone who was fortunate enough to have her as a friend. LINK

$100 - Sandy Southwick (family) - Susan G. Komen for the Cure - NOV 2007The first $100 donation was given in honor of Sandy Southwick (my mother-in-law) who passed away from breast cancer in March, 27, 2009 after a long battle. After watching the affects of cancer, not only on Sandy, but the lives of the people around her, I felt that I was not doing enough charitably. It was at that point that I decided to dedicate 100% of my cd and download sales from Sleeping Dogs Lie to charity from that point forward. LINK
